Existing social platforms prioritize global content over local relevance, making it difficult for users to discover nearby events, activities, and like-minded individuals.
New residents, freelancers, and hobby-based communities struggle to build trust and form meaningful local connections due to noisy, algorithm-driven feeds and low contextual relevance.
There is currently no simple, safe, and interest-based way for people to connect with others living nearby and engage with their local communities in a meaningful way.
The goal of Loop Local is to design a simple, safe, and proximity-first community platform that helps users easily discover nearby events, activities, and like-minded individuals, enabling them to build meaningful local connections with confidence.
Loop Local aims to:
Simplify local discovery by prioritizing nearby people and events over global, algorithm-driven content
Help users connect with others who share similar interests within their local area
Reduce social hesitation and uncertainty by creating a clear, controlled, and trust-focused experience
Support diverse user groups, including new residents, freelancers, students, and hobby-based communities
By combining location intelligence with interest-based discovery, Loop Local empowers users to move beyond noisy feeds and engage in meaningful, real-world connections within their local communities.

I followed a research-first approach to understand user concerns around privacy and trust. I mapped user journeys to identify friction points in local discovery and communication. The design focused on controlled identity sharing, simplified onboarding, and intuitive navigation. I prioritized clear visual hierarchy and trust-building elements to create a safe and approachable experience.
